In the role of Senior Project Manager, you will collaborate with business stakeholders and suppliers to implement changes that align with our client's strategic direction. You will ensure the successful delivery of complex projects within agreed tolerances, monitoring and reporting on progress according to the project management framework. Reporting to the Manager of the Enterprise Portfolio Office, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering prioritised investments to achieve strategic priorities.
- Project Planning: Define objectives, timelines, deliverables, risks, and resources. Produce and seek feedback on Project and Change Management plans. Lead re-planning and change management activities.
- Project Delivery: Manage delivery within scope, time, cost, and quality constraints. Track costs and provide forecasting. Manage risks and issues using the EPO Risk Management framework. Complete project status reports and manage expectations. Write and present submission papers to governance. Manage constraints, dependencies, and vendor relationships.
- Leadership and Team Management: Provide confident leadership and mentor team members. Engage with stakeholders to build capability and influence culture.
- Business Understanding: Awareness of strategy, priorities, and ensuring project outcomes align with the organization’s strategic direction.
- Enterprise Thinking: Anticipate impacts of decisions on other parts of the organisation.
- Strategic Thinking: Identify and communicate opportunities or threats, understanding inter-connections and dependencies.
- Apply project management methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile).
- Understand product development principles.
- Business Casing: Develop Business Cases and lead Benefit identification work.
Model Public Servant Commitment: Support initiatives from Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission. Develop cultural capability and adhere to Public Service values.

- Proficiency in Office 365
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Understand Te Tiriti o Waitangi’s relevance to the role.
- Contribute to the Project Management Community of Practice.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., PMI, Prince2).
