As an IKEA Co-worker – Sales (Kitchen Planner) you are or have:

  • A passion for our home furnishing products and working with customers.
  • Ability to liaise confidently with existing and new customers via phone calls, emails, and face to face interactions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to connect with others, you are able to understand the customer's needs and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • A ‘Togetherness’ mindset where you’ll work closely with your team and other departments yet also be able to work autonomously with a strong problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have proficient computer skills and an ability to learn about all technical aspects of the IKEA product range.
  • You are confident in actively selling and a passion for customer service.
  • A safe mindset and being comfortable with physical work and manual handling including repetitive movements and lifting.
  • Prior Kitchen Planning experience and use of relevant tools such as CAD or SketchUp along with kitchen planning and regulations knowledge is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Strong sales experience in a retail setting is essential, you will be provided with extensive training on IKEA products and systems.

What you need to know

  • The work location for this role is our Sylivia Park store, Auckland however as you will be starting before the store opens, you may also work from our Warehouse in Māngere.
  • Successful candidates will need to travel to Australia for at least one week of training. Please note that, even if the role is part-time, the training will be conducted on a full-time schedule.
  • This is a permanent role.
  • You may have seen that we have a variety of Part Time and Full-Time roles available for the Co-worker – Sales (Kitchen Planner). You will be able to select your preference at application stage. See below the breakdown:
  • Full Time – 80 hours per fortnight.
  • Part Time – 60-79 hours per fortnight.
  • Part Time – 40-59 hours per fortnight.
  • Part Time – 24-39 hours per fortnight.
  • The internal title for this role is IKEA Co-worker.
  • The expected start date for this role is 30/06/25.
  • The first step of the recruitment process will be an application form. If you are successful to the next step, you will be notified via email.
  • Our store will operate 7 days a week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evenings shifts including every Saturday or Sunday, or working both days and having the next weekend off. Prior to the store opening you may work Monday to Friday.

  • IKEA Sylvia Park is a non-smoking workplace.
  • Car parking will not be provided and therefore IKEA encourages all Co-workers to utilise public transport wherever possible.
