You will be working for a public sector organisation based in Wellington CBD. This well-established and highly reputable organisation is looking for a Senior Accountant on a short-term contract.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

As the senior accountant, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function.

• Review balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end closing activities
• Manage the external reporting requirements relating to projects and assets
• Conduct monthly GST review
• Perform quarterly FBT review
• Review fixed assets
• Coordinate the pre-year-end financial audit process and ensure audit requests are appropriately addressed
• Regularly monitor the Work-in-progress account and liaise with relevant parties to ensure completed projects are capitalised by 30 June 2025

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

• Chartered Accountancy qualification
• Intermediate Excel skills
• A minimum of 5 years' work experience in a senior accounting role
• Have a deep understanding of Accounting Standards and Financial Reporting processes within the public or private sector
• Ability to prepare statutory financial statements and monthly management reports
• Have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
